Cars in German Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police mentioned they were notified by a resident who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then found multiple other smeared cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials report initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials announced they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.

A senior representative said the vandalism rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
